Valdosta (Ga.) High quarterback Tate Rodemaker announced on Twitter on Friday night that he has committed to Florida State.

Rodemaker said he will sign with FSU on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Rodemaker is a 247Sports three-star prospect.

Rodemaker had been committed South Florida. He visited FSU on Friday and made his flip to FSU official.

FSU lost four-star quarterback commitment Jeff Sims of Jacksonville Sandalwood on Wednesday. FSU coach Mike Norvell moved quickly to find quarterbacks, extending offers to Rodemaker and others.

Rodemaker would be the first quarterback to sign with FSU in 2020 after the program didn’t land a quarterback in 2018 and ’19.

First QB signed by FSU in 3 years! That sounds insane. Who does that? Nobody.

You should never go more than one year without signing a quarterback. The fact Taggart couldn’t land a high school quarterback the past two years was exacerbated by the problems Jimbo had with the last four quarterback he signed who ran into problems here.
There has never been a better opportunity for a quarterback to play at Florida State than right now and Tate obviously recognized it.
