South Carolina’s loss is Florida State’s gain.
Four-star defensive end George Wilson backed off his commitment to South Carolina following Will Muschamp’s dismissal and picked Florida State on Wednesday, signing with the Seminoles.
Wilson is 6-foot-5 and 214 pounds.
“Big, tall, rangy prospect,” Osceola recruiting analyst Charles Fishbein said. “Has the body type to add necessary weight to play with his hand in the ground. has a quick first step off the ball. should give FSU another guy who can put pressure on the quarterback. He may need to take a redshirt and add some weight to his frame.”
Wilson’s Hudl highlights can be viewed here. He had 12 sacks as a junior in 2019.
“We knew going in to this recruiting class, we needed to get more athletic guys on edge on defense, especially defensive end,” FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller said. “So we identified George early … He immediately makes us more athletic as an edge of the defense as a pass rusher, as an edge setter.”
