FSU lands commitment from Williamson

The Florida State coaching staff continues to finish up the 2020 class with a flourish, landing a commitment from three-star athlete Darion Williamson.

“After careful thought and prayer, I am 1004 % committed to Florida State University,” Williamson posted on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Williamson is a native of Brownsville, Tenn., and had been committed to Volunteers.

The Osceola’s Patrick Burnham profiled Williamson last week, stating: “Williamson’s athletic ability is apparent on his highlight tape, where he lines up at wide receiver and as a safety/linebacker. He shows good but not great speed, is a strong runner with the ball in his hands and shows very good balance. As a wide receiver he displays nice hands and does a good job of turning upfield after the catch.

“Although there isn’t a lot of tape of Williamson on defense you can certainly see how explosive he is when chasing down the ball carrier and it looks like he might be more instinctive on the defensive side of the ball.”

FSU received commitments from offensive tackle Robert Scott and tailback/receiver Corey Wren in recent days.
