FSU lands 6-7 transfer WR Johnny Wilson

Florida State has gone big at receiver in the transfer portal, this time landing 6-foot-7, 230-pound Johnny Wilson from Arizona State on Thursday night.

Wilson caught 12 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown in 2021, one in which he was slowed by a hamstring injury. On Tuesday, 247Sports reported that Wilson jumped in the portal and quickly made a decision.

Mycah Pittman, who announced he will transfer from Oregon to FSU on Sunday night, was a high school teammate of Wilson at Calabasas High in Pacoima, Calif.

Wilson was considered a top-100 prospect in the class of 2020. It’s not clear how many years Wilson could play at FSU, but given that 2020 is a COVID year (and not countable) he could have three seasons at minimum.

Wilson will join Pittman as the second transfer receiver to choose to enroll at FSU in December. The FSU roster features some tall receivers — including 6-4 Malik McClain, 6-3 Darion Williamson and 6-3 Kentron Poitier — but Wilson is the tallest in the group.
