Florida State has opened at No. 12 in the D1baseball.com preseason poll that was released on Monday afternoon.
FSU will play host to No. 1 Louisville (May 1-3), No. 3 Miami (April 24-26), No. 16 NC State (March 27-29) and No. 19 Georgia Tech (March 13-15) in weekend series at Dick Howser Stadium in 2020. The Seminoles will also play No. 4 Florida (April 14) and No. 6 Texas Tech (Feb. 29-March 1).
The Seminoles will begin their first season under new coach Mike Martin Jr. on Feb. 14 against Niagra.
FSU returns a core of players for 2020, including outfielder Reese Albert (.283, 9 HR, 35 RBI, 33 runs), outfielder Robby Martin (.315, 4 HR, 34 runs, 54 RBI), catcher Matheu Nelson (.282, .442 on-base %, 6 HR, 32 runs, 29 RBI) and infielder Nander de Sedas (.231, 4 HR, 8 doubles, 38 runs, 32 RBI).
The weekend rotation could be a strength as the Seminoles will feature right-handers C.J. Van Eyk (10-4, 3.81 ERA, 129 strikeouts and 41 walks in 99.1 innings) and Conor Grady (9-6, 71 strikeouts and 26 walks in 64.1 innings) as well as left-hander Shane Drohan (3-1, 3.66 ERA, 71 strikeouts in 51.2 innings).
FSU opens preseason practice on Jan. 24.
