Class of 2022 linebacker prospect Mekhi Mason (6-1, 220) from Opa Locka (Fla.) Monsignor Pace High School announced on Monday that FSU was among the top seven schools involved in his recruitment.
Mason, who was offered by the Seminoles in March, also has Georgia Tech, Indiana, Pitt, Ole Miss, Syracuse and West Virginia as the other programs he is currently considering signing with later this year or in February 2022.
As a junior in 2020, Mason made 42 tackles including 12 tackles for a loss and six sacks in a five-game season. Osceola Recruiting Analyst Charles Fishbein has the rising senior rated as the 8th-best outside linebacker prospect in Florida for 2022. Mason is considered to be a three-star prospect by 247sports, which also ranks him as the 32nd-best inside linebacker prospect in his class and the 125th-best overall prospect in Florida.
