Spain’s Baba Miller picked Florida State over Gonzaga in an announcement on Twitter on Monday afternoon.
The 18-year-old Miller is a 6-foot-11, 201-pound wing averaged 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds for Real Madrid’s under-18 team last season.
“After a lot of thinking I have made my final decision!” Miller wrote on Twitter. “I really want to thank my family for their constant support, encouragement and unconditional love. I also want to thank all the schools that have shown interest in me over the last months, especially Gonzaga. Finally, I would also like to thank Real Madrid, and all the coaches and teammates I have had these last 6 years. It has been a great ride. It has been a very hard decision to make but I am really excited for this next step in my career, and I’m willing to give it my all at FSU! Go Noles!!”
Miller expanded on why he picked FSU over Gonzaga in an interview with ESPN.com.
“The style of play matches mine with my abilities and the freedom that they gave their players to make plays at any position,” Miller said. “I love the culture at Florida State. As soon as I got there I could see the brotherhood they have on the team. They have tight relationships between the players and coaches. I loved the good vibes that were on the team.”
FSU will welcome back five returning players, all of whom will be in their second season in Tallahassee, in 2022-23: Caleb Mills, Matthew Cleveland, Cam’Ron Fletcher, Jalen Warley and Naheem McLeod. They will be joined by a pair of transfers, Jaylan Gainey from Brown and Darin Green Jr. from UCF.
The Seminoles also welcome true freshmen C Cameron Corhen, G Chandler Jackson, F De’Ante Green, G Jeremiah Bembry, F Tom House and Miller.
