Two of Florida State’s game times were set on Wednesday, and the Seminoles will play a pair of September games in the evening.
FSU will play its home opener against ULM on Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. on the new ACC Network. The Seminoles will also play their ACC opener at Virginia on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. on the ACC Network.
A game time for FSU’s season opener against Boise State on Aug. 31 in Jacksonville has not been set. Game times for the rest of the Seminoles’ season won’t be set until later in the fall.
The ACC Network is set to launch on Aug. 22. While not available on a large number of cable systems, the ACC Network will launch on DirecTV, Hulu Live, PlayStation Vue and Verizon Fios. For more information on the ACC Network, and to check providers in your area, go to www.getACCN.com.
Placing two of FSU’s early-season games on the new ACC Network is likely by design. The Seminoles typically draw high ratings and it’s this type of content that will encourage fans to push their cable company or satellite provider to carry the ACC Network.
This strategy was also employed by ESPN when it launched the SEC Network in 2014, as a number of early conference games aired on the SEC Network.
Among the Week 1 games on the ACC Network are a Thursday night opener featuring Georgia Tech at Clemson, a Friday game between Utah State and Wake Forest as well as three games on the first Saturday – East Carolina at NC State at noon, Virginia Tech at Boston College at 4 p.m. and Virginia at Pitt at 7:30 p.m.
