FSU football reports program-best 3.127 GPA in spring semester

Florida State has released team grade-point averages for the spring for a large number of spring sports.

And the team GPAs are nothing but impressive, especially considering the impact that COVID-19 has had on student-athletes the past two months. Here are some numbers:

FSU football reported a 3.127 GPA in the spring semester, which coach Mike Norvell said is the best in program history. Among the top GPAs was Wyatt Rector, a walk-on tight end who proudly posted on Twitter that he earned a 3.75, and defensive back Jarvis Brownlee posted that he had a 3.5.

“So proud of our team and their response to adversity this semester to succeed in the classroom better than ever before,” coach Mike Norvell posted on Twitter.

Women’s cross country reported a 3.829 GPA in the spring, with 14 members of the team being on the president’s list with a 4.0 GPA.

The women’s swim and dive program earned a 3.7 in the spring, while the men’s swim and dive program earned a 3.63.

FSU saw 51 current student-athletes graduate in the spring semester. The full list can be viewed here.

You always worry about focus, or the loss thereof, when a person’s routine is turned upside down. We’ve been reporting the academic support was on top of their game and this is evidence of it.
