FSU DB coach is reportedly headed to Texas A&M

TJ Rushing is about a month into the job at Florida State and is reportedly headed to Texas A&M, according to multiple reports.

Rushing’s hire was announced by FSU on Dec. 28. He was previously Memphis’ pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach under Mike Norvell.

The move was first reported by TexAgs.com and FootballScoop.com. An FSU spokesperson did not respond to a request for confirmation from the Osceola.

A member of the Super Bowl XLI champion Indianapolis Colts team, Rushing has been a college assistant for eight years. He has made stops at Memphis, Arizona State, Stanford and Northern Arizona.

It’s not clear what candidates Norvell may target. Among the options with FSU ties would be Terrell Buckley (now at Ole Miss) and Stanford Samuels Jr. (now at Florida Atlantic).

It’s also plausible that Norvell could wait to announce a hire until after National Signing Day on Feb. 5.

    Might be T Buck time.

TBuck or Stanford Samuels Jr. would be hires that make sense with FSU ties.

Would Rushing owe FSU a buyout? Not sure. Contracts for the FSU football assistants have been requested but not yet released to the media. It’s plausible that he has signed the contract, which would make a buyout binding.

EITHER TERRELL BUCKLEY OR STANFORD SAMUELS WOULD BE THE BEST CHOICES. Buck has the most experience with an NFL background and Stanford has extensive ties with The HS. Coaches in South Florida and a son that has played for us as well. Both are team guys, and most importantly FSU Men.
