FSU custom jersey numbers coming soon – and will offer revenue to athletes

Florida State football fans will soon have the chance to buy any jersey number, supporting their favorite team and also helping the athletes earn money from their name, image and likeness.

FSU athletics announced the arrangement on Thursday afternoon, partnering with Fanatics and OneTeam to give players the chance to opt-in to the program. If players choose to do so, they will be compensated for each jersey sold.

A few other programs around the nation have made similar arrangements in the last month.

It’s not clear when the jerseys will be available, although a statement from FSU said the jerseys “are expected to be available for the 2022 season.”

This is the latest and perhaps one of the biggest NIL deals that FSU’s athletes have been able to enjoy. FSU soccer players have marketed a group deal, through Rising Spear, for a championship T-Shirt. A variety of men’s and women’s players have marketing deals for their endorsements and products, while others have been able to promote community service efforts or fundraising deals (like Dillan Gibbons’ GoFundMe effort) to help friends.
