Florida State football players have organized a Unity Walk for Saturday afternoon from Doak Campbell Stadium to the state capitol.
Football players are expected to be joined by coaches and players from other sports in a walk that begins at the Unconquered statue at Langford Green at 2 p.m.
Among the FSU football players leading the march are defensive tackles Marvin Wilson and Cory Durden as well as defensive back Jaiden Lars-Woodbey.
Wilson and Lars-Woodbey have spoken out about the topic of inequality and each has outlined plans for how to bring about substantive change. Among them is registering players to vote as well as building a stronger connection with the community and leading fund-raising efforts.
“My goal is that you join the fight with me, my teammates and my coaches so we can make a meaningful, collective change that we have failed to do for over 400 years,” Lars-Woodbey said on Twitter earlier this week.
