Floria State has extended assistant coaches Odell Haggins and Ron Dugans, a school spokesperson announced on Monday evening.
Haggins’ and Dugans’ contracts expired on Jan. 31, 2022. Copies of the extensions were not made available to the media and it’s not clear how long the deals are for or if either has received a raise.
Haggins has been an FSU assistant coach since 1994, helping the program win a pair of national titles. He took over as interim head coach in 2017 and 2019. Haggins has coached a number of NFL draft picks at defensive tackle, including Timmy Jernigan, Eddie Goldman, Derrick Nnadi, Brodrick Bunkley, Travis Johnson and Darnell Dockett.
Dugans returned to the FSU staff in 2019 and was retained when Mike Norvell took over as head coach.
Retaining Haggins and Dugans means Norvell has likely solidified the 2022 staff with only a few changes, the promotions of Tony Tokarz (quarterbacks) and Randy Shannon (co-defensive coordinator / linebackers).
Also on Monday, FSU announced it had promoted football chief of staff Bruce Warwick to associate athletics director for football. FSU athletics director Michael Alford announced Monday the promotion of FSU Football’s Chief of Staff Bruce Warwick to Associate Athletics Director for Football. Warwick will continue to oversee football-related operations as a member of the athletics leadership team, the school announced.
“Bruce is a professional whose attention to detail and wealth of experience has been instrumental in the progress of our football program,” said Alford. “He will continue to serve as Coach Norvell’s top administrator while adding his expertise to our leadership team.”
Warwick, who has 31 years of operations experience with 17 years in the NFL and 14 in college programs, has been chief of staff since December 2019 where he coordinates all aspects of the program’s administrative impact and influence. He will continue to work closely with the coaching, recruiting, operations, academics and communications staff.
