Florida State needed a victory against Miami on Saturday to give itself a winning record, improve its hopes of reaching a bowl and snap a two-game losing streak to the Hurricanes.
Instead, Miami’s defense was just too much for FSU, now 4-5 on the season, and the Seminoles now need to win two of their last three games to become bowl-eligible. The Hurricane defense was dominant from start to finish, holding FSU to just 203 offensive yards and just 31 rushing yards on 41 attempts. Miami couldn’t run the ball much better . . .
