Welcome back, Nander De Sedas.
The Florida State shortstop returned to the lineup against North Carolina and made up for fielding miscues on Friday with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Seminoles a 4-2 win on Saturday afternoon. De Sedas missed about a week with what FSU coach Mike Martin Jr. described as an oblique injury.
FSU (14-9, 9-8 ACC) and UNC went through the middle innings scoreless as the bullpens took control.
Tyler Ahearn, Wyatt Crowell, Chase Haney, Jonah Scolaro and Davis Hare (1-0) combined to pitch 5.1 shutout innings. FSU starter Bryce Hubbart allowed just Caleb Roberts’ two-run homer in the fourth inning.
Robby Martin hit a two-run homer in the first inning to put FSU ahead 2-0.
Wyatt Crowell went 2 for 2 with a double and a run scored. Tyler Martin went 1 for 4 with a single to extend his on-base streak. Logan Lacey also scored a run.
FSU hitters struck out 13 times.
