The early reviews from Florida State’s offensive line have been positive.
FSU won’t take a leap forward but instead expect baby steps, incremental improvement, from the group in 2019. Graduate transfer Ryan Roberts brings needed experience as a two-year starter at Northern Illinois, while freshman Dontae Lucas has been heralded as the most powerful lineman and is frequently referenced as a “dog” for his drive and competitiveness.
There is also an air of positivity from new line coach Randy Clements, who has been held in high regard as a teacher.
“He wants everybody to get better,” said Roberts, who has been working at right tackle in the preseason. “He’s not taking anything less than perfection. That’s exactly what you want out of a coach. A guy who’s going to push you to be the best player you can be.”
Center Baveon Johnson feels Clements has helped him with technique and footwork.
This video from Seminoles.com provides a window into Clements’ positive style and how he has connected with the FSU linemen.
