With National Signing Day just barely in the rear-view mirror, Florida State’s 2021 signing class is beginning to take shape.
And it added a big piece on Friday morning when Jacksonville Sandalwood four-star linebacker Branden Jennings committed to FSU. Jennings is the son of former FSU linebacker Bradley Jennings (1997-2001).
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Branden Jennings is considered one of the top 10 players in Florida in the class of 2021 and one of the top 50 in the nation.
“Big-time linebacker prospect,” Osceola recruiting analyst Charles Fishbein said. “Maybe the best prospect at linebacker FSU has gotten a commitment from since Matthew Thomas. He plays the game like his father. Super aggressive and attacks offense with bad intentions.
“He has the ability to drop into coverage and play the pass. He is also very effective against the run. He has great timing blitzing quarterbacks. He is a complete player and much-needed addition to the team.”
Jennings made the commitment at his high school, pulling off his sweatshirt to reveal a No. 44 jersey – his dad’s number at FSU.
FSU’s 2021 class features five commitments, led by Jennings and three-star quarterback Luke Altmyer.
