Balanced effort leads FSU women past Miami

A week after a difficult road loss at Miami, the Florida State women’s basketball team turned the tables on the Hurricanes.

Kourtney Weber scored 15 points, and Bianca Jackson had 13 points and eight assists to lead FSU past Miami 67-59 on Sunday. FSU improved to 6-0 at home this season.

FSU (8-5, 7-5 ACC) had four scorers in double figures: Beyond Weber and Jackson, Sammie Puisis and Valencia Myers had 12 points apiece. The starters carried the bulk of the load, with Morgan Jones adding six points and eight rebounds.

The Seminoles shot 24 of 54 (44.4 percent) from the floor, 7 of 18 (38.9 percent) from 3-point range and 12 of 18 (66.7 percent) from the free-throw line.

FSU forced Miami into 19 turnovers. Puisis had three steals.

Taylor Mason had 13 points for Miami (8-9, 5-9). The Hurricanes made just 7 of 23 (30.4 percent) of their 3-pointers in an attempt to rally.
