Florida State coach Mike Norvell continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, class of 2022 tight end/linebacker prospect Brian Courtney gave his pledge to sign with the Seminoles later this year or next February. This morning class of 2023 tight end prospect Randy Pittman from Lynn Haven (Fla.) Mosley committed to Norvell.
Pittman’s commitment comes a day after running back Cedric Baxter Jr., from Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater High School announced that he was decommitting from FSU’s 2023 recruiting class and reopening his recruitment.
As a sophomore in 2020, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Pittman hauled in 35 passes for 473 yards and three touchdowns in seven games. He also ran eight times for 56 yards and made three tackles while lining up on defense.
“This kid is one of the better players from the panhandle,” said Osceola Recruiting Analyst Charles Fishbein. “He is more of an athlete. Pittman can play multiple positions — running back, tight end, defensive end or even linebacker. He is the total package.”
Jeremy Brown was Pittman’s head coach last season at Mosley and had nothing but good things to say about the underclassman.
“First off he is a great character kid,” said Brown. “He is respectful, smart and works very hard. As a player he is tough as hell and the ultimate competitor. His catch radius and hands are as good as I’ve ever seen. He will block your ass off and try to punish you. FSU got a damn good player and he will make the locker room better.”
Pittman joins defensive end prospects Lamont Green Jr. and Gabriel Harris as members of the 2023 recruiting class who have committed to FSU.
