Florida State coach Mike Norvell picked up his 11th commitment for the 2021 recruiting class when cornerback prospect Omarion Cooper announced he plans to play for the Seminoles.
Cooper also considered offers from a list of schools that are reported to include Florida, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, South Carolina and Texas among others. He is rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which also has the Lehigh (Fla.) Senior High School product ranked as the 18th-best cornerback prospect in the country and the 40th-best overall prospect in Florida in the 2021 class.
The 6-0 and 170-pound rising senior is the third cornerback prospect to commit to Norvell and FSU for 2021. Hunter Washington and Kevin Knowles both gave their pledge to the Seminoles earlier this spring. Cooper is the seventh defensive player to commit to FSU since Norvell took over the program in December.
“He is one of the top corners in Florida,” said Osceola Recruiting Analyst Charles Fishbein. “Cooper has good feet. He does a good of keeping receivers in front of him. He is very aggressive for a corner. He plays with good technique. If beaten on a play Cooper has the makeup speed and quickness to get back and recover. He has the size and length to give receivers problems. He has good football instincts. You will see him make a ton of plays on the ball. He is one of the more complete corners in the state of Florida this year.”
